Mini Exploration 007. The Gap Between Thoughts
A gentle invitation to notice your experience.
How long is the gap between one thought and the next?
For a few moments, simply notice your thoughts as they appear.
A thought might arrive as words, an image, a memory, or a quiet impression. Let it finish without trying to continue it or push it away.
Then notice what happens before the next thought arrives.
Is there a gap?
Does another thought appear immediately—or is there a second, several seconds, or perhaps longer between them?
There is no need to empty your mind or make the gap wider. This is not a test of how quiet you can become. You are only noticing the natural rhythm of thought: appearing, disappearing, and appearing again.
You may discover that thought is less continuous than it usually seems.
Reflection: How long were the gaps—and what did the space between thoughts feel like?
